B&P were engaged by The University of Newcastle to undertake a retail masterplan at the Callaghan, City and Ourimbah campuses.
The purpose of this masterplan was to determine the sustainable number, style and location of both the food and beverage and specialty retail across the campuses.
OUTCOME
This major regional University consists of one large remote campus, one medium sized remote campus and one small sized CBD campus.
The campus population was frustrated with the sub-standard retail offer at the remote campuses compared to the Newcastle CBD.
Essentially, our analysis showed how the current major campus had the wrong types of retail in the wrong locations on campus. As a result, retail sales on campus were well below the benchmark.
B&P’s strategy (aligned to the lease expiry profile and new buildings works) has re-distributed the amount and type of retail offering. This has the potential to attract high street retailers to the campus now by offering more highly demanded offers at the right moment in the campus day.
