OUTCOME
Ryde-Eastwood is a multi-culturally diverse and affluent area of Sydney.
The RLFC decided to take a ‘no holds barred’ look at how it could best connect and interface with the community beyond traditional club activities.
Brain & Poulter benchmarked the performance of the three existing food outlets – a bistro, coffee shop and Asian. We found they were oversized and underperforming.
Our analysis identified gaps in the market by looking at the demographics of the area in terms of age, income, housing tenure, nationality, employment profiles, etc.
As a result, we recommended a strategy that reduced the internal F&B space by 30%. We suggested a ‘high street’ precinct consisting of 6-7 restaurants in the front of the club.
This strategy allowed the club to ‘connect’ to the community and the high street, relate to the main commuter train station and engage the local residents in F&B expenditure in the club without having to be a member while generating enormous commercial yields.
